  Pyro-Tex Woven Gasket Sheet

A resilient, compressed sheet…that works!

Ready to be cut for use.

Services:

  • High temperatures      (Inert temperatures up to 1800°F/1000°C, Consult the Factory, especially for temperatures over 1000°F/540°C. Mild oxidizers to 975°F/520°C, Consult the Factory, pressure dependent)
  • High pressures            (up to 4500 psi/310 bar, Consult the Factory, as operating temperature increases, the pressure limit of the gasket decreases)
  • High equipment wear   (scratches/pores)

It is recommended that the Factory be consulted for applications over 500°F, over 600 psi, or with operating media such as mild oxidizers, strong oxidizers, acids, or other chemicals that will affect the limitations of the gasket.

Reinforced with Flat Metal Leaf Springs(a) of stainless steel, encapsulated in a thick vermiculated graphite foil jacket (b). These metal reinforced graphite strands, Slade’s weaving yarns, are woven into a tough, resilient cloth-like sheet (c).

The flat metal leaf springs at the core of each strand crisscross each other throughout the cloth to impart an enduring resiliency.

The woven sheets are compressed to increase density to form a leak tight gasket sheet.

Advantages

  • Flat metallic leaf springs, jacketed with graphite foil, make this 80” x 80” sheet the most resilient gasket you will need.
  • It takes physical abuse like no other graphite foil, handling and feeling like tough leather.
  • The metallic spring strands are woven across one another to actuate the gasket through each thermal cycle continually adjusting to expansion and contraction that leaves other compressed gasketing lifeless (d).
  • Pyro-Tex gasket sheet replaces spiral wound gaskets, removing the spiral leak path and eliminating the need for a compressing ring to prevent crushing.
  • Pyro-Tex gasket sheet puts flanges back in compliance by filling scratches, pores, and steam cuts with flexible graphite.
  • Each sheet is packed in heavy-duty tubes to eliminate shipping palettes and enable easy storage and handling.

Gasket Types

  • Ring and Full Face
  • Manhole and Handhole
  • Diesel Exhaust Flange

Pyro-Tex Joint Sealant

Slade’s self-forming gasket, the Pyro-Tex Joint Sealant, is made from patented graphite-foil encapsulated carbon-fiber reinforced yarns (also available with stainless-steel foil yarns). This self-forming gasket when in place is compressed to fit snugly. Available in 25 and 50 foot spools in various configurations, shapes, and thicknesses.

  • Change gasket without pulling tube bundles
  • Adhesive bonds in place during installation
  • Self forms into endless gasket
  • Made to virtually any thickness or width
  • Never hardens or dries out
  • Metallic reinforcement impedes extrusion
  • Readjustable, often re-usable
  • Individual strands reinforced with:
carbon fiber, 304 SS, or Inconel foil
  • Packaged on plastic spools
  • Inventory just one or two sizes
  • Eliminates the need to remove heat exchanger tubes from the shell

  • Performs better than:
    • Double jacketed metal gaskets
    • Spiral wound gaskets
    • Corrugated metal gaskets
  • More reliable than PTFE joint sealants
  • Eliminates large inventories
  • Easier to Handle
  • Stops damage from rough handling
  • Doesn't kink out of shape
  • Adjusts to warped flanges
  • Fills pits and scratches up to 1/8" deep

  • Pressures (Carbon fiber reinforcement, low pressure services only, Consult the Factory, as operating temperature increases, the pressure limit of the sealant decreases)
  • High equipment wear (scratches/pores)
